Raul Elizondo died in 1995 while on duty as a North Las Vegas police officer.

The North Las Vegas Police Department is remembering a fallen police officer on Wednesday during its 14th Annual Raul Elizondo Day.
Officer Raul Elizondo was a member of NLVPD. According to authorities, on Jan. 30, 1995, Elizondo was fatally shot by a man he had stopped for acting erratically in a neighborhood near Evans Avenue and Carroll Street.
Officer Elizondo will be remembered for his service to the community and his dedication to the NLVPD.
The event starts at 7:45 a.m. and will be held at Elizondo Elementary School. The building was dedicated in 1998 and named in honor of Elizondo.
Students will join police officers from across the valley in a ceremony to remember Elizondo. The day will include classroom activities, police demonstrations and a parade of emergency response vehicles.
The schedule of events is as follows:
- 7:45 a.m. - Flag raising ceremony
- 8 a.m. - Breakfast
- 9:40 a.m. - Guests visit and read to students
- 11:30 a.m. - Lunch
- 1 p.m. - Ceremony
- 1:30 p.m. - Honor parade with static display
- 3 p.m. - End of event
