Authorities released the name of the woman who was shot in an apparent murder-suicide at a home in Henderson.
Renee M. Bassett, 47, was identified as one of two people who died in the incident Tuesday, the Clark County Coroner's office said.
According to Henderson police, the incident happened about 5:30 p.m. at a home on Andada Drive, near Horizon Ridge and Arroyo Grande.
Police believe a 54-year-old man showed up at the residence of his ex-wife got into an argument with her and fired several shots at her, killing her.
The man then walked out to his car and shot himself.
Police said the victims' 13-year-old son was home when the murder-suicide occurred. He heard shots and called 911.
The victims have an 11-year-old son as well. He lived with his father and was not present when the murder-suicide occurred. Both of the boys have been taken into protective custody.
This marks the first homicide in Henderson so far in 2013.
The identity of the deceased male was pending, the coroner's office said.
