A pedestrian was walking across a west end roadway outside of a marked crosswalk when that person was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver, Las Vegas Metro police said.
Police reported the incident in the area of Torrey Pines Drive near Charleston just after 10:30 p.m.
Witnesses told police at the scene the pedestrian was crossing Torrey Pines from the east side to the west side, when a vehicle traveling north in the right lane struck the person and failed to stop.
The vehicle was described as a dark colored mid or large size sport-utility vehicle.
Police urge anyone with information on the incident to call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
This is the 23rd traffic related fatality in LVMPD's jurisdiction this year, police said.
