Matt Kelly Elementary could be stripped down to the bare minimum if President Barack Obama's automatic spending cuts go through.
Principal Patricia Harris said the school depends heavily on grants. It already operates on a small budget and Harris said they don't think they can handle more cutbacks.
School supplies, parental involvement programs and even some staff positions could all be taken away.
Harris said her 45 staff members have no plan in effect to get through this challenge because the cuts haven't gone through yet.
"The uncertainty of it makes you try to figure out the what ifs. What if I lose this, then how can I do that? What if I do have this but it's limited on how I do it? Who do we keep? Who is going to stay? Who is going to go? Who is going to move?" added Harris.
If the cuts are made, the current school year or staff will not be affected. All the changes will happen in the next school year.
