LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Clark County Coroner's office confirmed Friday the identity of a Maserati driver who died in a shooting and fiery crash on the Las Vegas Strip.

Kenneth Wayne Cherry, Jr., 27, was the named released by the coroner's office stemming from Thursday's incident. Authorities did not disclose the cause and manner of Cherry's death.

Late Thursday, the family of the Las Vegas rapper, a.k.a. "Kenny Clutch", identified him as the victim of the shooting and subsequent crash on the Las Vegas Strip earlier that morning.

According to his family, Cherry was driving the vehicle that was fired upon by the occupants of a black Range Rover. The shooting followed an apparent verbal argument at the Aria hotel and casino valet.

Cherry was shot, rapidly accelerated his Maserati down Las Vegas Boulevard and through a red light before striking a cab at the intersection of Flamingo Road. The cab burst into flames, claiming the lives of the driver and a passenger.

Cherry was found dead at the scene. The suspects remain on the loose.

Bay Area FOX affiliate KTVU spoke with Cherry's family in Oakland, who confirmed his identity.

Cherry has a number of rap videos on YouTube which prominently show his Maserati.
