School for disabled students opens at new locale

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Students and staff at the new John F. Miller School are celebrating new renovations that meet the needs of medically fragile children.

The school serves a population of students with disabilities and those who rely on specialized medical attention.

Renovations include wider doorways to accommodate students in wheelchairs and "teaching walls" in each classroom to provide adequate power to support computers and other assistive technology devices to help students communicate and access instructional materials.

The school's state-of-the-art health office is imperative to the well-being of the students it serves, and has been nominated for a national design award.
