Man charged in sword attack at Vegas apartment

A dispute over drugs at an apartment east of the Las Vegas Strip led one man to stab another with a three foot sword, Las Vegas Metro police said in an arrest report.

Police released the report Tuesday for 20-year-old Aarion Crockett, who was charged with attempted murder, burglary, assault and battery with a deadly weapon charges.

According to the report, the incident happened on Feb. 5 in the apartment of the victim Teddryck Jones and Lorraine Desoto in the 3500 block of Paradise Road.

Police said, in the report, Jones' ex-girlfriend and Desoto's daughter, Krystalyn Desoto, 21, asked him to buy her marijuana while he was asleep in bed. The report said after Jones refused, Desoto threw objects at Jones, leading to a confrontation between the two.

Desoto left and brought back her current boyfriend, Crockett, and man named Leon, according to the report.

After Jones told the two to leave him alone, Crockett, in the report first grabbed a large kitchen knife and then decided in favor of taking a decorative Medieval sword off the wall.

Police said Crockett stabbed Jones through his right arm with the blade exiting the other side and puncturing the right side of his chest.

Police noted Jones was also armed with a sword and struck Crockett with the blade.

Jones was able to shut the door to his bedroom from Crockett, who continued to try stabbing the victim through the door, the arrest report said. Crockett, Leon and Desoto fled the scene.

Jones and Desoto's mother, who was also present during the incident, identified Crockett as the person with the sword, the arrest report said.

Crockett was arrested on Feb. 14 during a traffic stop, according to the report. Crockett admitted to investigators that he stabbed the victim but was threatened by Jones who had also been holding a blade, police said.

Crockett was booked into the Clark County Detention Center.
