LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A driver was killed and his passenger was critically injured after a single vehicle wreck in west Las Vegas early Monday.

Las Vegas Metro police reported the incident on Flamingo Road and Edmond Street just before 3:30 a.m.

Police said a Lincoln Continental was heading westbound on Flamingo when it lost control and began sliding towards the north curb, where it left the roadway.

The Lincoln collided with a concrete wall, causing major damage, Metro said.

The 42-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene while the passenger was taken to University Medical Center. The passenger - Dimo Stolev, 31 - was listed in critical condition, police said.

Police said the driver's death represented the 21st traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction this year.
