Police investigating woman's death in downtown apartment

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Metro homicide detectives are investigating the body of a young woman found dead in a downtown Las Vegas apartment building.

Police say they found the victim, a white woman in her late 20s, at the Oak Tree Apartments near Bruce and Fremont. Her identity and cause of death will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office.

Alvin Anderson moved into the apartment complex in December. He says learning that police are investigating the death of one of his neighbors is enough to make him want to move.

"It felt kind of crazy to be here and somebody got killed here. It's crazy," said Anderson. He doesn't know the victim, but says he could hear her and her boyfriend fighting inside an apartment last week. On most days, he says, the community is pretty quiet. "I'm shocked. I never thought nothing like that would happen up in here," he said.

Management at Oak Tree had no comment about the woman's death and wouldn't let FOX5's cameras onto the property.
