LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A 55-year-old motorcyclist, identified on Friday afternoon as Samuel Carnie of Las Vegas, was killed after a collision involving a minivan in northeast Las Vegas early Friday.

Las Vegas Metro police said shortly before 3 a.m. Carnie's motorcycle collided with a minivan at the intersection of Nellis Boulevard and Owens Avenue.

Witnesses told police the minivan was stopped at the red light on northbound Nellis when the Harley Davidson, traveling at a high rate of speed, crashed into it from behind.

Carnie died at the scene, police said.

The driver of the van, 46-year-old Yvette Kagan, sustained minor injuries. Police did not believe the driver was under the influences of drugs or alcohol.

Traffic was blocked following the wreck. Metro said this is the 19th fatality on our roadways this year.
