PHOENIX (CBS5) -

An El Mirage man who pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the fatal stabbing of his father has been sentenced to 16 years in prison.

Maricopa County prosecutors say 47-year-old Albert Rodriguez Arias was sentenced Wednesday.

Arias was arrested last April on suspicion of first-degree murder and originally pleaded not guilty in the case.

He pleaded guilty to second-degree murder on Jan. 11.

Police found 76-year-old Pete Arias bleeding from six stab wounds at his home in El Mirage, located west of Phoenix. He was pronounced dead at a hospital.

Court records show Albert Arias told police that he was tired of being abused by his father and he had "lost it" and stabbed him.
