Coroner IDs bicyclist killed in collision

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Clark County Coroner has identified a bicyclist killed in an east Las Vegas crash on Tuesday as Joseph Galterio, 48, of Las Vegas.

The accident happened on Charleston Boulevard at Pecos Road just after 12:45 p.m. Police said it appears Galterio was at fault.

According to police, a man was driving a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis westbound in the center lane of Charleston approaching Pecos when Galterio was crossing Pecos from north to south.

Galterio failed to yield right of way, established by a stop sign, and entered the path of the Mercury. The driver of the Mercury couldn't avoid hitting Galterio.

Galterio was pronounced dead at the scene. This marked the 18th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction so far this year.
