A bicyclist was killed after colliding with a vehicle in east Las Vegas Tuesday.
Las Vegas Metro police reported the accident in the 3500 block of East Charleston Boulevard, near Pecos Road, about 12:47 p.m.
According to police, a man was driving a 1998 Mercury Grand Marquis westbound in the center lane of Charleston approaching Pecos when the victim, a 48-year-old man, was crossing Pecos from north to south.
The bicyclist failed to yield right of way, established by a stop sign, and entered the path of the Mercury. The driver of the Mercury couldn't avoid the bicyclist.
The bicyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His identify will be released in the coming days. This marks the 18th traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction so far this year.
