CSN student special guest at State of the Union address

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A Las Vegas college student will have one of the best seats available when President Barack Obama on Tuesday delivers his State of the Union address.

The office of Nevada Sen. Harry Reid on Monday confirmed College of Southern Nevada (CSN) student Alan Aleman will be a special guest at the address in Washington, DC.

Aleman, 19, applied for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) on Aug. 15, 2012, the first day the government began accepting the applications.

CSN received his permit in mid-October and he is the first known DACA recipient from southern Nevada.

Aleman, who's currently seeking a degree in biological science and would like to pursue a career in medicine, was recently elected by Latino Youth Leadership Alumni members to represent them at the Las Vegas Latin Chamber of Commerce.

You can catch the president's State of the Union address on FOX5 and www.fox5vegas.com beginning at 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
