Both Albany St. basketball teams had a chance to make a statement to the rest of the conference Thursday night but came up short of doing so.
The ASU men were out matched in a game that ended in a 63-38. The Benedict College men's basketball team held Albany St. University to just 29 percent shooting. The Tigers held a 33-11 lead at the half. It was the Rams' third straight loss while falling to 4-9 in the SIAC and 5-14 overall. ASU will play at Paine on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the fate just as bad for the Lady Rams. Despite outscoring Benedict 49-35 in the second half, the Lady Rams lost 84-72. Sophomore Kedeemya Cooper had a career high 25 points to go along with 7 rebounds. ASU falls to 6-6 in the SIAC and 8-11 overall. The Lady Rams will also play at Paine on Saturday.
