Authorities in Pahrump say a 68-year-old Pahrump man opened fire on his daughter's boyfriend during a confrontation.
The Nye County Sheriff's office said Randall Phelps was arrested after a shooting that left Benjamin Appleby critically wounded.
According to the sheriff's office, Appleby had gotten in a fight with his girlfriend, who is Phelps' daughter, about 5 p.m. Wednesday in the 6500 block of S. Camelot Court.
After the fight between the couple, Phelps got in a fight with Appleby. Deputies said Phelps pulled a handgun and shot Appleby two times.
Appleby was transported to University Medical Center Trauma and was last listed in critical condition.
Deputies said Phelps' actions were not in self-defense or defense of another.
Phelps was booked at the Nye County Sheriff's Office Detention Center on battery and attempted murder charges.
