FLORENCE, AZ (CBS5) -

A convicted felon who was deported after serving half his prison sentence in Arizona was arrested Tuesday by Pinal County Sheriff's deputies.

Ramon Montijo, 52, was arrested and booked into jail after the 1994 GMC truck in which he was riding was stopped because of a suspended registration, said Tim Gaffney of the Pinal County Sheriff's Office.

Montijo was identified through an Arizona-issued ID card with his picture and a routine warrant check showed he had an outstanding felony probation warrant for his arrest, Gaffney said.

He was booked into the Pinal County Adult Detention Center and was held without bond, Gaffney said.

Montijo had served half his prison sentence for an "aggravated" felony but was released from custody and deported after he promised he would not return to the U.S. again, Gaffney said.

He will now serve the rest of his original sentence, Gaffney said.

The original crime, length of the original sentence and the time Montijo served were not specified by Gaffney.
