The move comes on the heels of Brooks' decision to stay on in the Assembly despite earlier in the week agreeing to take a leave of absence.
A release from the Democratic Caucus states, "At this time, the organization has determined it's in Mr. Brooks and the organization's best interest to part ways."
The release goes on to say the caucus encourages Brooks to work on his health issues without the rigor of caucus business.
Assembly members on Thursday will form a special committee to evaluate Brooks' ability to serve. The committee will be led by Majority Leader William Horne, who told FOX5 that Republicans will submit names for three spots on the seven-member committee.
