Fire exposes grow house in southwest Vegas

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Firefighters working on a house fire in southwest Las Vegas discovered Tuesday uncovered a marijuana grow operation in a bedroom of the residence.

Las Vegas Metro police confirmed investigation of the grow house in the 6300 block of Isabel Cove Court, near Robindale Road and South Jones Boulevard.

According to Clark County Fire Department, crews arrived to find smoke coming from the roof.

Once inside, crews found the fire in an upstairs bedroom. When they were trying to get the fire under control, they located what appeared to be the grow operation with lights and wires running throughout the second floor of the home.

According to Erik Newman with CCFD, the fire was brought under control in about 15 minutes. There was no one inside the home at the time.

Metro and CCFD arson investigators were called in to assist with the investigation.

Fire officials estimated damage at $100,000.
