COOLIDGE, AZ (CBS5) -

A pair got arrested in Pinal County after the man scuffled with police and the woman's brother allegedly turned her in.

The Pinal County Sheriff's Office said they made a traffic stop Feb. 1, at the intersection of State Road 287 and Arizona Boulevard in Coolidge and the driver, Deyanira Cordero, 36, did not have a valid Arizona drivers license.

PCSO said Luis Morales-Espinoza, 37, was a passenger in the vehicle and had a felony warrant for a probation violation after entering the U.S. illegally. Espinoza also had a warrant for his arrest under an alias.

Espinoza fought deputies as they tried to arrest him. They were able to get Espinoza on the ground, but an officer hurt his hand making the arrest, according to PCSO.

PCSO said Cordero admitted to knowing Espinoza was in the U.S. illegally, and she was arrested for harboring a wanted felon.

Cordero's brother came to the scene, PCSO said, and told deputies that she was also in the U.S. illegally.

Espinoza had been deported five times since 2005, the most recent being in December 2012. He was booked on charges of aggravated assault on law enforcement and resisting arrest, as well as the multiple warrants.
