Tamas Horvarth (LVMPD)
LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
An armed bank robbery suspect who was shot by police is now behind bars.
Metro police said Tamas Horvath was carrying two guns and had a scarf covering his face on Saturday when he robbed the U.S. Bank at Rainbow Boulevard and Sahara Avenue.
Police said he went straight to a payday lender following the robbery before shooting his way into a home and encountering an armed homeowner at another.
When Horvath was confronted by police, he allegedly raised his weapon, prompting an officer to fire. Police earlier on Monday identified Officer James Larosa, 29, in the shooting.
Police said Larosa has been employed with Metro since 2008 and is assigned to Patrol Division, Northwest Area Command.
Metro placed Larosa on paid administrative leave as the shooting is investigated.
