High schoolers shadowing Vegas biz professionals

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

More than 300 high school students from around Las Vegas are getting a look at their potential future jobs Monday as part of National Job Shadow Day.

Students from eight local high schools will visit businesses, community and military organizations as part of the nationwide event.

Organizers say it gives participants a chance to get a real life look at careers they might be interested in.

The Clark County School District is partnering with Workforce Connections to bring the workplace experiences to participants. More than 10 Las Vegas-area businesses are hosting students, including Creech Air Force Base, Bureau of Reclamation and the Department of the Interior, MGM Resorts International and HealthSouth.

Workforce Connections is an organization that works to increase graduation rates in Nevada by connecting students to work experiences designed to motivate them to stay in school.
