A Metro officer was involved in a shooting Saturday afternoon, according to Metro spokesperson Bill Cassell.
Police said a male suspect in his 40s robbed US Bank on Sahara before fleeing into a nearby neighborhood.
While avoiding police in the neighborhood, the suspect forcibly entered two homes.
After entering the second home, the homeowner retrieved a handgun and fired at the suspect.
The suspect escaped the house into the backyard, where LVMPD officers were waiting.
Police said the suspect pulled out a gun and pointed it at officers and one officer fired back, striking the suspect.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.
The Metro officer did not sustain any injuries.
