LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

This week a family is marking one year since their loved one went missing. Las Vegas cab driver Keith Goldberg disappeared Jan. 31, 2012, and his body has yet to be found.

FOX5 spoke via Skype with his sister Jodi Goldberg, who described her brother as a great man.

"There's not a day that goes by that I don't think about Keith. It's very, very sad. It's been a very, very painful journey," she said.

Jodi, her brother Jeffrey Goldberg and their 81-year-old mother all live on the East Coast, where Keith was from.

Jeffrey Goldberg says they have yet to receive his brother's death certificate, which would help free up the few thousand dollars he had in savings to help their elderly mother with living expenses.

But most importantly, they need closure that only comes with his body being found and a proper burial.

"We're gonna do whatever it takes. We hope justice is served. We hope one day we'll find him and bring him home," Jodi Goldberg said.

That's where Red Rock Search and Rescue has been working to help. Since Goldberg's disappearance, the group, which had just formed about a year ago, has run almost 40 missions to find him. The volunteers have covered more than 100 square miles of the desert near Sunrise Mountain.

"The goal of the team is, once we get on a case, we'll keep working it until we find the person," commander David Cummings said.

They have yet to search in areas in Lake Mead but can't because the nonprofit needs major liability insurance, which it can't afford right now.

Still they will continue on. The group has organized a search for Sunday, Feb. 3.

"We won't quit. We're free. We'll stick with it. Every family member deserves to have their loved one come home," Cummings said.

Keith Goldberg's former girlfriend, Georgene "Cookie" Ross, and her then-estranged husband Cristopher Ross are behind bars, accused in his murder.

Their jury trial is set for June 10. Goldberg's family will be there.
