Woman rescued in apartment fire

The Clark County Fire Department is investigating an apartment fire at Tropicana Avenue near Boulder Highway.

Investigators say 11 units and 30 personnel arrived on the scene at 6:21 p.m. Sunday.

The fire was on the second floor of a three-story building.

The Clark County Fire Department says an elderly woman was trapped in her apartment, unable to exit without assistance.

The woman was taken to Sunrise Hospital in stable condition.

Firefighters were also able to rescue several cats that belonged to the victim.

Investigators say the initial damage estimate is $15,000.
