LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
The United Way of Southern Nevada is kicking off its tax assistance program, Earn It Keep It Save It, for the filing season.
Beginning Jan. 27, households with an income of less than $51,000 in 2012 can receive free tax preparation and may be eligible for an earned income tax credit refund of up to $5,891.
The nonprofit organization noted the earned income tax credit is the nation's most effective anti-poverty program for low-income, working taxpayers.
The program is available during certain times and locations in the Las Vegas valley.
