LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police want motorists in the area to know what to do when they see a flashing yellow left turn arrow.

In a YouTube video produced by the department, Metro shows what to expect during the signal.

Metro says the flashing yellow arrow allows a vehicle to cautiously enter an intersection only to make the left turn.

Motorists, though, must yield to oncoming traffic and pedestrians and proceed with caution, police say.

Police noted the Nevada Department of Transportation decided to replace green left-hand turn signals at certain intersections for a "safer, more efficient" turn signal.
