Wet, muggy first few days of August in NC

Updated:
Most of July was wetter than normal and cooler than normal and that's exactly how the first few days of August will be in North Carolina.

The final day of July, Thursday was another day in 80s and the 18th day this month below 90, which is our average high temperature this time of year.  The high in the Triangle was 82 while Fayetteville made it up to 89.

Overnight will not be as cool and comfortable, but should still feel pretty good for this time of year.  There will be a few scattered showers with muggy conditions and a morning low down to 68.

Friday, the first day of August will be a cloudy one with below normal temperatures and above normal rain chances.  The high will be near 80 and there is a good chance of showers, mainly in the afternoon.

It looks like the weekend will be wet too with mostly cloudy skies and scattered showers and storms possible each day.  Temperatures will still be cooler than normal too, topping out in the lower 80s.

Monday could still have a few showers and storms possible.  Expect highs in the middle 80s with a mix of clouds and some sun.  Tuesday and Wednesday will start to get a little drier and hotter.  Tuesday's rain chance will only be 20%, but the high will be 87.  Wednesday and Thursday will have low rain chances too, but highs will be near 90.

The National Hurricane Center continues to watch an area of low pressure with some thunderstorms way out in the Atlantic.  A hurricane hunter airplane investigated the system Thursday, but did not find enough to classify it as a depression or storm.  There is still a 70% chance of development in the next several days.  Several computer models bring the system north parallel to the east coast later next week.  While so much can change and there is no real threat now, this system should be watched for the next few days.
