Woman injured hiking at Red Rock Canyon

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A woman sustained severe injuries after falling 10 feet at Red Rock Canyon, Las Vegas Metro police said Thursday.

Metro received a call of the injured hiker at 11:14 a.m.

Police said she was hiking with others near Calico Vista when she fell.

Metro said she sustained a severe head injury, as well as an injury to the lower extremity.

A Metro search and rescue unit was called to the scene, and the woman needed to be airlifted to the hospital.
