LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

The Clark County Coroner's office released the name of a driver who died when his cement truck rolled off an embankment in west Las Vegas.

Richard Wood, 44, was identified as the person who died in the incident Wednesday.

According to Las Vegas Metro police, Wood was the driver in the cement mixing truck that crossed into oncoming traffic on Summerlin Parkway near the Rampart Boulevard off-ramp.

The heavy duty truck struck a pick-up registered to Metro, police said.

Two on-duty officers in the pick-up were injured in the accident.

Las Vegas Fire and Rescue crews had to use the Jaws of Life to retrieve the body of the cement mixer driver from the wreckage.

Authorities said it was not clear if the driver made a mistake and lost control of the vehicle or if he suffered a medical episode.
