Vegas police to discuss 14-year-old's slaying

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Police scheduled a 2 p.m. news conference Wednesday to discuss a shooting that killed a 14-year-old boy.

Las Vegas Metro police said Homicide Lt. Ray Steiber will meet with members of the media to discuss the case.

The Clark County Coroner's office identified the victim in the Jan. 12 shooting in the 1400 block of E. Reno Avenue as Haji Mohamud.

A preliminary investigation showed Mohamud and another person were involved in a fight at a party inside an apartment in the area.

People were exiting the party when multiple gunshots were heard, police said. Mohamud died at the scene while another person was hospitalized.

Wednesday's news conference was scheduled for 2 p.m. at Metro's Headquarters in downtown Las Vegas.
