Vegas gas prices drop another week

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Despite a national increase in the price of gas, Las Vegas drivers were still being treated to cheaper prices.

According to AAA's Fuel Gauge Report, the average price of regular unleaded gasoline was at $3.04 a gallon on Monday.

The price was about five cents fewer than the price a week ago. The price was also 26 cents less from the price a month ago and 37 cents less from the price a year ago.

Nationally, the average price of gas jumped two cents from the week before.

Analysts, though, believe a holiday down turn in gas prices is wearing already off.

"The holiday buzz is wearing off and wholesale gasoline prices have fizzled. It appears that this year there will be little change in gas prices between Christmas and mid-January, something that has only happened one out of the last seven years," said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. "Gasoline inventories have rebounded sharply in the past several weeks, certainly a major factor behind the relatively stable gasoline prices. It's hard for prices to rally with the monster increases in supply we've been seeing."
