LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
A pedestrian died after being struck by a vehicle at a west Las Vegas intersection.
Las Vegas Metro police reported the incident near the intersection of W. Lake Mead and N. Rampart boulevards at about 10:53 a.m. Monday.
According to Metro, an 86-year-old woman was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet HRR. The woman was transported to University Medical Center Trauma where she later died.
Police said the woman, who will be identified by the coroner in the coming days, was crossing Lake Mead when she was struck. She was not in a marked crosswalk.
Police said eastbound Lake Mead was shut down after the incident.
This marks the eighth fatal traffic-related accident in Metro's jurisdiction so far this year.
