It was a loud wake-up call for one resident when several stray bullets damaged his apartment on Saturday just after midnight. Within seconds, a 911 call was made.
"It sounded like someone was beating on the walls. Come to find out, they were shooting guns. Down here in the door jam there is one bullet they dug out and up over here is another bullet they dug out," said next-door neighbor Steve Williamson.
According to metro police, when officers arrived on scene they found a male victim on the ground deceased from what appeared to be gunshot wounds.
Officers also found another man who suffered from a minor gunshot wound. He was transported to Sunrise Medical Center.
Metro detectives believe both victims were attending a party inside the Sage Point Apartments. A fight broke out and several shots were fired.
"There was probably about 30 people and they were just running around like crazy," added Williamson.
"I guess they were throwing a party and it got out of hand and they started shooting down there and now someone ended up dead," added another neighbor.
"I was scared and I was terrified. I thought the bullets were going to fly up here because we are so close to downstairs," said the upstairs neighbor.
Boarded windows and warning stickers now make the unit standout from the rest while metro police search for the person responsible for turning a night of fun into a deadly one.
"We are in the process of moving right now. So we are out of here anyway," added Williamson.
No suspects have been identified in this case. The identity of the victim as well as the cause of death will be released by the Clark County coroner's office.
