Henderson Olive Garden reopens following fire

Posted: Updated:
HENDERSON, NV (FOX5) -

The Olive Garden restaurant on Sunset Road near Green Valley Parkway in Henderson which caught fire back in December reopened on Friday, a spokesperson confirmed.

The fire broke out on Dec. 27 at around 2 p.m., filling the restaurant with smoke and forcing the evacuation of staff and guests.

Employees in the kitchen noticed smoke coming from a utilities area.

"Our units arrive on scene and found a lot of smoke in the backroom. The fire was apparently concealed up in the wall space and up in the attic space, so our crews made some entry and made access through the roof area to extinguish the fire," said Henderson Fire Chief Steve Goble.

Although the restaurant was full, no injuries were reported. Investigators determined that a short in the employee restroom sparked the fire.
