It's only getting colder in Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Winter is coming back to Las Vegas in a major way over the next several days.

While the wind has died down, freeze warnings will be in effect for Friday night as temperatures will drop into the 20s.

Some of the worst to suffer in the elements were those waiting for a bus.

"I'm used to (the cold), but I don't like it," said Karonna Wheeler, waiting at a bus stop near Sunset and Eastern. "I came here because of the warm climate, and I got shocked."

While the Las Vegas climate is better than Wheeler's home of Ohio, she still prepares the same way.

"I have on a couple different layers. I have thermals and three different shirts and a jacket and hat," said Wheeler.

Many locals have to work outside in cold and windy conditions. FOX5 couldn't gauge how Rob Cec felt about it.

"We don't have snow out here, not usually," said Cec.

FOX5 asked if that put a smile on his face.

"Sure," Cec said, smirking.

As daylight turned to dusk and ominous clouds rolled in Thursday night, the park at Mountains' Edge had one lonely soul, Amanda Kraft, running.

"I don't get quite as sweaty," Kraft said of the cold weather. "But it's wonderful to run out here."
