LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

Las Vegas Metro police said a situation involving a barricaded suspect in the east end was resolved Wednesday.

Las Vegas Metro police first reported the activity at Twain Avenue and Sandhill Road just after 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.

Metro said the Special Weapons and Tactical (SWAT) team was called to the area.

According to Metro, a constable was attempting to evict a resident in the 3900 block of Shadow Wood Avenue just after 1 p.m. when a loud banging sound was heard. Though it was initially thought to be the sound of a gunshot, police said that was not the case.

Evacuations were ordered at nearby apartments.

Police said a 64-year-old man surrendered to them peacefully and was taken into custody.
