LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) -

The Longview City Manager has upheld the termination of Officer Leigh Ann Snyder.

On January 3, officials from the city of Longview heard Snyder's appeal of her termination from the Longview Police Department.

On December 11, 2011, Officer Snyder and a civilian passenger were responding to a burglary alarm when they were hit, head on, by a drunk driver. Snyder's injuries were the worst.

According to Longview city policy, employees must be let go if they miss 12 months of full-time work in a two year period.

According to city spokesman Shawn Hara, Snyder filed the appeal with the city's human resources department last month. The city's appeal committee, which consists of three city employees, heard from both Snyder and the police department this morning. The committee made a recommendation to the city manager. The city manager had 10 business days to consider the recommendation and then make a decision. The decision is final.

Hara said the appeals committee is a standing committee, and members rotate every two years. The members are picked by the HR director. They include one executive level employee, one supervisory level employee, and one employee from anywhere from the city's organization.
