LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A recent seizure of 213 pounds of methamphetamine has garnered southern Nevada's narcotics task force with a national honor.

Las Vegas Metro police scheduled a news conference Friday to tout the recognition and to disclose details of, what the department calls, the largest meth seizure in Clark County history.

LVMPD said the seizure was part of the efforts by the Southern Nevada Drug Task Force, which is a law enforcement coalition comprised of members from Las Vegas Metro, Henderson and North Las Vegas police, among others.

Metro said the task force is credited with seizing a total of 480 pounds of meth, 42 pounds of heroin, 37 pounds of marijuana and more than 86,000 outdoor marijuana plants. The task force is also credited with taking down three "distinct yet connected" major drug trafficking organizations, according to Metro.

Due to this, the task force was recognized in Washington, D.C. for their efforts, Metro touts.

The news conference was slated for 1:30 p.m. Friday at Metro Headquarters in downtown Las Vegas.
