LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A couple whose children died in a Las Vegas trailer blaze last year are scheduled for a preliminary court appearance Tuesday.

Authorities said the parents – Shane Gouailhardou, 22, and Amy Hatzenfiller, 26 – fled their burning home at the Vans Trailer Oasis Mobile Home Park near downtown while three small children perished in the fire on June 15, 2012.

Gouailhardou's 2-year-old son David and Hatzenfiller's two children – Skylar Lafia, 2, and Aryana Lafia, 1 – were identified as those who died in the fire, according to authorities.

Last month, a grand jury indicted the two on second-degree murder and child neglect charges.

The indictment alleges the mobile home where the fire broke out did not have fire extinguishers and there were no clear escape routes for the children. It's also alleged that the couple took meth prior to the fire.

Authorities did not conclusively say what caused the fire, but it may have been started by a lit cigarette or children playing with matches, investigators said.

The parents' court appearance was scheduled for 8 a.m. in Las Vegas Justice Court.
