NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -
Authorities released Monday the name of a 28-year-old man who was found dead at a North Las Vegas apartment complex.
Veron Hill died of a gunshot wound of the head as a result of a homicide, the Clark County Coroner's office said.
According to North Las Vegas police, officers were called to a reported shooting at the complex near Cheyenne Road and Civic Center Drive about 11:56 p.m. Jan. 5.
Upon arrival, officers found Hill lying on the ground, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound, police said.
Preliminary investigation indicated the man was standing on the west end of a common area in the middle of the complex when he was shot, according to police.
NLV police said the shooter may have fled on foot or in a vehicle.
Police noted the incident as the first homicide in North Las Vegas for 2013.
