LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A viewing was held Friday afternoon for a 10-year-old girl who was brutally murdered. The family of Jade Morris gathered at Palm Mortuary to see her one last time.

"She looks like she's sleeping. She's beautiful right now," described Jade's mother, Tejuana Reeves.

Reeves finds her support from family members and a community that has been by her side ever since the Jade was found dead in North Las Vegas last week.

"No 10-year-old should be in a box. She's supposed to be here with me," Reeves said.

Tejuana told FOX5 on Thursday that Jade had been stabbed more than 40 times. The family originally chose not to have an open-casket viewing, but changed their minds.

"She does not even look like my granddaughter. I can't believe she's gone," said Brenda Morris, Jade's grandmother.

At least a couple hundred people came to pay their respects at the mortuary on the corner of Jones and Oakey Boulevards.

Inside the viewing room, there was a slide show with photographs of Jade Morris, along with plenty of flowers and butterflies - which Jade loved.

Jade's grandmother and uncle can't stop talking about their outgoing, music-loving angel.

The woman charged with the death of Jade, is Brenda Stokes. Metro police says she has not been cooperative in the investigation.

"I just want justice," Morris said. "I just want everything to go the way it should go. I want [Stokes] to pay. She has to pay."

The focus right now, however, is all on Jade.

"I can't sit up in the middle of the night and hear her reading, or walk into her bedroom and see her falling asleep with her face in a book," Reeves said through tears. "I can't have any of that, and it hurts so bad."

The funeral for Jade Morris will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Bread of Life Ministries, located at 2721 Coran Lane, Las Vegas.
