Who says Las Vegas doesn't produce topnotch hockey talent? Las Vegas Wranglers forward and native son Chris Francis has been named to the 2013 ECHL All-Star Team.
Francis will represent the Wranglers at the 2013 ECHL All-Star Classic on Jan. 23 in Loveland, CO.
"There are a lot of great players in this league and to be named an All-Star is a great accomplishment," Francis said. "I'm still in shock for being named to the team."
Francis, 23, was born and raised in Las Vegas and is appearing in his third season with the Wranglers. The center went to Eldorado High School and has 27 goals and 62 points in 119 games.
Prior to joining the Wranglers, Francis played for the Portland Winter Hawks of the Western Hockey League.
"I'm just really looking forward to the experience of playing in the game and making it one of the best experiences of my hockey career," said Francis. "I want to get a goal just so I can say I've scored in an all-star game, too."
The All-Star Team - voted on by ECHL coaches, media directors, broadcasters and media members - will face the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL at the Budweiser Events Center.
The Wranglers will square off with the Utah Grizzlies this weekend on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. and on Sunday at 2:05 p.m. Dora the Explorer will appear at both games and you may skate with the team following Sunday's game with rental skates provided at no additional charge.
