LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

FOX5 is learning more about the criminal history of Brenda Stokes, the woman accused of killing 10-year-old Jade Morris.

According to court documents, Stokes was charged with aggravated assault, accused of using a razor blade to attack Daryl J. Stennis in 1993.

The Mississippi Press goes into further detail, reporting Stokes "had cut off the genitals of a former boyfriend," citing quotes from former high school classmates.

An indictment obtained from Jackson County, MS, describes the attack as "manifesting extreme indifference to the value of human life and being a means likely to produce death or serious bodily injury." The charge was dropped about a year later due to lack of evidence and prior agreements between Stokes and the victim.

Multiple attempts to reach Stennis were not successful.

On Thursday family members of Morris told FOX5 she was stabbed 40 times.
