Dysfunction continues in Washington with leaders barely able to communicate even a little. A recent exchange from the top Republican to the top Democrat tends to prove that point.
According to multiple reports House Speaker John Boehner directed a couple of "F bombs" during the fiscal cliff negotiations on Friday towards Nevada Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.
"Go f--- yourself," were the words from Boehner as he and Reid were waiting in a White House lobby just outside the Oval Office. "What are you talking about?" asked Reid. And Boehner repeated, "Go f--- yourself."
Politics can sometimes get brutal, especially behind the scenes, but this may be a new low. Boehner also reportedly bragged about the exchange to colleagues in his party, according to Politico.
This all happened at the end of the 112th Congress with the 113th being inaugurated on Thursday morning.
It doesn't seem as though there will be much relief in the near future either. Both sides will have to come together by March again to talk about tax reform, the debt ceiling, spending cuts, and much more as part of a second wave of fiscal cliff negotiations.
To further prove we're at a new low when it comes to communication, Boehner recently has said he's done with one-on-one meetings with the president, according to TheHill.com.
