LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -
Authorities have identified the driver who died in a New Year's Day wreck on Flamingo Road.
The Clark County Coroner's office said Teresa Chang, 73, of Las Vegas, died of multiple blunt force trauma as a result of an accident.
According to Las Vegas Metro police, Chang was in a vehicle traveling eastbound on Flamingo at a high rate of speed on Jan. 1. Police said her vehicle turned left onto Wynn Road and pulled into the Gold Coast parking lot.
That was when she made a turn into the parking lot, jumped a curb and ended up back on the westbound side of Flamingo, hitting another vehicle, according to Metro police.
A driver in the other vehicle sustained moderate injuries, police said.
Chang was rushed to University Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.
Police have not yet determined if drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash or if it was the result of a medical episode.
The incident marked the first traffic-related fatality in Metro's jurisdiction of 2013.
