NORTH LAS VEGAS, NV (FOX5) -

Two teens were facing charges after the vehicle they were in struck two other teens in North Las Vegas on Tuesday.

According to North Las Vegas police, Cristian Ivan Diaz, 19, was the driver of a vehicle that was involved in an incident in the 6600 block of Gliding Eagle Road near Black Oaks Street.

Police said the 2002 Acura coupe driven by Diaz failed to negotiate a curve in the road, left the roadway and struck a 16-year-old girl and an 18-year-old man.

Police also noted witnesses seeing the vehicle's passenger – 18-year-old Ricardo Daniel Velasquez – disposing a baggie of marijuana before officers arrived.

The two teen pedestrians were hospitalized at University Medical Center in extremely critical condition, police said.

Diaz was booked into the Las Vegas City Jail on a count of failure to maintain travel lane and failure to obtain a driver's license. Velasquez was arrested on counts of marijuana possession and destruction of evidence.

Police believed speed, drugs and alcohol were factors in the incident.
