Police: Girl killed at Mt. Charleston sledded into fence

Authorities released the name of the girl who died after a sledding accident at Mount Charleston.

Vanesa Lara, 11, was identified as the person who died Tuesday, the Clark County Coroner's office said. According to the coroner, the girl died of blunt chest trauma as a result of the accident.

Lara was rushed to University Medical Center after the incident at the Lee Canyon area of Mount Charleston, according to Las Vegas Metro police.

Police said the girl was sledding with another person at the Fox Tail Sledding Area. Police noted they were sledding along a fence.

According to police, the girl lost control and ran into the fence.

Police could not say if the fenced area was restricted from the public.
