The family of 10-year-old Jade Morris is searching for strength while coping with the loss of the young girl. Jade's grandfather, Phil Tucker, says his barbecue restaurant will always remind him of the outgoing little girl who had dreams of being a jazz singer.
Tucker says his granddaughter, who called him "Big Phil", loved helping out at his restaurant, Top Notch Barbecue. Tucker opened the restaurant only weeks before Jade's life was taken away. Jade spent the last night of her life at Top Notch listening to live jazz music and writing stories.
"She'll always be with me," said Tucker. He added, "If I needed a partner to do something, she was always down to do it."
Jade's family says she was an aspiring singer who also loved drawing and writing stories. Her many talents and magnetic personality will be missed by many.
The family is planning funeral services and will open a bank account for donations early next week.
