Travel delays expected at Mt. Charleston

Posted: Updated:

Citing high traffic volumes and ongoing construction work, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) on Thursday issued a travel advisory for Mount Charleston for this weekend and next week.

Visitors should expect a lengthy commute to Kyle and Lee canyons and limited parking, particularly near Las Vegas Ski and Snowboard Resort. State Route 158 is closed to traffic this coming weekend.

Additionally, parking has been eliminated on State Route 157 from SR158 to the Mount Charleston Lodge and on State Route 156 from the Meadows to the ski resort and by the fire station in Lee Canyon.

You may park at the ski resort, in Forest Service parking lots and east of SR158 or off the road. Wheels must be to the right of the white lines so that emergency vehicles may safely pass.

Vehicles parked over the white lines in "No Parking" zones or that impede traffic will be ticketed and towed with fines beginning at $190.
